Tonal imperfections in single notes are often rooted in the construction of the instrument. In some cases, they can be fully corrected; where this is not possible, an enriched overtone spectrum can at least significantly reduce their impact.

Beyond tonal refinement, a precise adjustment of the setup is often advisable, which may include a careful realignment of the fingerboard.
