Background

Rooted in traditional Spanish construction, my oldest model unites the heritage of guitar making with scientific research, refined technical solutions, and the artistic insight of distinguished musicians – creating a mature and contemporary guitar concept.

The KONZERT is notably influenced by German guitar construction at the onset of the 20th century, particularly by the instruments crafted by Richard Jakob (Weißgerber) and Hermann Hauser I. The design of the soundboard builds upon a patent registered by Hermann Hauser in 1920. His invention was intended to couple the qualities of the Viennese and Spanish guitars.

One of his guitars from 1921, based on this patent, also made me rethink the conventional view of the role of the top in sound radiation. Since then, I see the guitar as a resonating whole organism, which is supported by my acoustic research on body vibrations.

Sound

With a rich spectrum of tonal colours, the KONZERT delivers a well-balanced mid-range sound with powerful bass and trebles rich in harmonics.

The emphasised horizontal radiation of the soundboard ensures that a robust direct sound component reaches the audience, giving it a strong presence in the concert hall.

This, together with its nuanced and precise response, makes it an exceptional choice not only for soloists, but also as an expressive chamber music instrument.

It is recommended to make a direct sound comparison between Angela Waltner’s guitar and that of HH I. The tradition is clearly recognizable, though the characters are fundamentally distinct. My highest compliment is this: both stand strong and assured, side by side.
