In addition to my own instrument by Angela Waltner, I have played approximately twenty new and older guitars from her workshop over the past years. I am consistently impressed, and although I have had the privilege of encountering some treasures of great craftsmanship, I consider these classical guitars to be in a class of their own.
The instruments made by Angela Waltner offer exceptional expressive possibilities. They convince with their distinctive tone, individual charisma, as well as superior design and craftsmanship. The perfect weight distribution allows for a relaxed posture. They sound open and free right off the workbench. After a few hours, they can already be used in a concert setting.
The rather piano-like, objective playability from the lowest to the highest note, the unprecedented tonal balance, the whispering yet unmistakable pianissimo, as well as the always melodious and yet unmistakable fortissimo, represent a new quality for the classical guitar.
The playing follows the musicality unhindered, and not the peculiarities of the instrument. However, the palpable optimization does not promote superficiality. Technical brilliance serves the sound, expression, and devotion. Guitars by Angela Waltner are mysterious and touch the soul deeply.
For me, these are musical instruments that are played with the heart and cannot be forgotten after just a few moments. They are also suitable for improvisation, or, thanks to their assertiveness, as ensemble instruments.
